Antique Hand-Hooked Wool Rug in a lovely floral pattern with bright colors on a beige background with lovely delicate fern scrolling around the center in pretty shades of yellow and dark green. Flowers proliferate at the four corners and in the center of this wonderful rug. 60”x 36”. Unique.
This rug is gorgeous - it has a black background at the outside edges with 4 corner floral patterns, replicating flowers in the center, with yellow green leaves and a fern scroll pattern in yellow and dark green in an oval framing the center. The floral arrangement in the center is hooked in bright primary colors of wool with red-orange, maroon/burgundy, periwinkle blue, peach and blue green predominating. The arrangement is pretty and old-fashioned and is not much faded, comparing back and front (photo 5 shows the back, photo 1, the front).
Three repairs are seen on the back of the rug. Two repairs don’t show on the front, while the one in the center of the rug does show slightly (See photo 4 and photos 6-8). The rug needs professional cleaning. There are no other flaws. Very nice condition for an old rug from the 20s-30s, nearly 100 years old.
All in all, this is a really lovely old rug, which after cleaning will be ready to use on the floor or to put on your wall as a tribute to the skills of the past.
