    Description

    Lovely Winter Village Snow Scene Hooked Rug Mid-Century 28.5”x18” Signed & Dated.
    Vintage hand-hooked, 100% wool pictorial rug. It shows a snowy winter village scene from the past. A couple on a horsedrawn sleigh are riding past a colonial style yellow house and barn, past a pond with skaters, fences, trees, and lots of snow. Signed "M.W." & dated "1990".
    The colors of yellow, white, blue and browns are very soft; while the blue sky and blue icy stream may have faded over the years, this is still a very pleasing piece of Americana. The piece from the back is shown needing binding. It can be framed or bound on the edges to create a rug. This suggests it has never been used. Burlap edges range from 3.5" to 8.25" so it will easily allow for binding to make a rug. The hand hooked piece measures 28.5" x 18". This was hooked with 100% wool strips, using natural dyes.

    This rug while nearly 35 years old has lovely colors and rich details. It is tightly hooked and in excellent condition. All it needs is to be framed if hung or finished around the edges if used in a tabletop or as a rug.
