" COPPER AND BRASS FIRE EXTINGUISHER"

Manufactured by the Butler Bros Fire Extinguisher Co., Chicago, IL.
This is an antique vintage copper and brass "Belmont" fire extinguisher made by Butler Bros. and is approximately 100 years old.  It has been professionally polished and finished in lacquer to retain its brilliant shine and resist tarnishing.  There is some discoloration from being in storage after its restoration. It has been professionally fitted with a lamp socket and wiring for use as a table lamp.
This  "Belmont" fire extinguisher was recovered from an old Chicago hardware store. The tank retains the original soldered embossed letter brass plaques. The solid cast bronze valve wheels, hose nozzle and wall hook are intact. The contents were removed long ago.  The Belmont fire extinguisher was fabricated for the Butler brothers. George and Edward Butler founded a wholesale mail-order company in Boston in 1877. Butler Bros. opened a Chicago warehouse in 1879, and the city became home to the company's catalog department. (all of its operations were based in Chicago after 1930).
This item will be carefully wrapped in foam bubble wrap, styrofoam blocks, and heavy duty shipping box to protect it from shipping damage.
